UPDATE

The development squad has had it confirmed that winter training will now be alongside the 1st team each week over the winter. This further enhances young players opportunities to make an impression on the 1st team management. Any young players that are keen on joining, or returning to this progressive club should make contact with the development manager, Mark Winter – Details below

Salisbury FC will be running a development side for the 20/21 season playing in the restructured Wyvern league. Home matches will be played predominantly at the Ray Mac, mostly on Saturdays when the 1st team are away.

This is an opportunity for the best young local players to showcase their abilities and develop their talent. The pathway for bringing players through to 1st team football, will, at all levels of football be more important than ever before with the financial impact Covid-19 will have on football finances up and down the pyramid.

At Salisbury FC the development squad will train alongside the 1st team in pre-season. During pre-season 1st team manager, Steve Claridge has proposed we arrange some games over pre-season where we can combine development squad players and the 1st team. This is a perfect opportunity for players to impress the manager and also experience the levels they will need to hit if they are to break into 1st team football.

We now have the basis of the perfect pathway for young, talented players to develop their potential from youth into men’s football

Head of youth Mark Winter says “We now have the basis of the perfect pathway for young, talented players to develop their potential from youth into men’s football. Most players won’t be ready at 17 years of age, they still need time to physically develop. Having the development squad gives us that bridge players need. Training with the 1st team here in pre-season, and for those that progress and impress on and off the pitch with their personal development, they will during the season get further opportunities to train with the 1st team to not only show the manager how they are progressing, importantly the players themselves will be able to gauge where they are on their journey in football’.

The squad will be run as an under 23 side with the emphasis on developing players coming through the age groups within the youth. We will when it is allowed to do so be holding trials for new players to join the squad. Any talented players interested should contact Mark Winter and send a football CV on the contact details below.
