The Whites development squad return to action on Saturday the 13th of August at the Ray Mac.

Wroughton are the visitors on this opening day of the 22/23 season. In the two clashes last season it ended all square with a win a piece, away Devon Arnold gave the Whites the lead but we conceded 3 goals on a disappointing day in North Wilts. On the return at Amesbury town’s Bonnymead park Dyllan Roocroft and Ed Timperley scored the goals in a 2-1 victory.

However, this is a completely new look Whites side this season with Devon, Alfie Hawke, Layton Tulk, Owen Taylor moving onto senior football and a good few others that due to work or university locations are not in the squad this season. New players bring new challenges and I know we have some talent on our hands but it’s now down to finding the right balance with the new squad and see where it takes us. Unfortunately as ever pre-season has seen players away (like our central defence) is this week. So we simply have not had everyone together to see what we have to work with. It’s going to be a week or two before that happens I imagine.

But this Saturday is an opportunity for supporters not travelling to Hayes to watch the 1st team, to come to the Ray Mac and take a look at these young lads, I am pretty confident give it a couple of years for some, perhaps sooner for others we do have lads that could follow in Devon Arnolds footsteps from the dev squad to the 1st team.
