This April will see the Dev involved in as many as six fixtures before the end of the month as we play catch up with pretty much everyone else in the league.
The Whites currently sit 12th in the table, although 5th or 6th are still a possibility with our games in hand. That said, we are a side charged with producing players to move on to the 1st team, not win leagues. Given 4 players have had multiple games in the first team this season, Devon Arnold, Layton Tulk, Owen Taylor and Alfie Hawke I think the return for the club and the dev coaches this season has been very decent. We are in a transition period now were we are introducing some of our 18’s and even 16’s into the squad and even the starting line up in some games given how good some of them are. The future is definitely very positive and there is still plenty more that have their sites on 1st team football next season or in 2 or 3 seasons.
This Saturday (9th) we host Wroughton at Amesbury before heading to Calne on Tuesday evening (12th) for a game under the lights.
The following two Saturdays see’s us travel again up North to face Malmesbury Vics and Purton FC in that order.
Our final two games are after the 1st teams season will have ended and we are at the Ray Mac as we host first Melksham Town on Tuesday 26th, and then the final game of the season for the Dev is Royal Wootton Bassett Town on Saturday 30th of April. RWB will likely either visit the Ray Mac as Champions or the title will be decided that day if Pewsey Vale have managed to beat them on the 23rd when the two sides meet.
The last time RWB and the Dev met the hosts edged it 2 v 1. However, as long as we don’t pick up injuries then we will should be able to name a stronger side than earlier in the season in the North of the County. Either way I think it could be an exciting game at the Ray Mac to end this season on.
All said and done, it is a chance to extend your season by a week at least and come and support the Development for the last time in the 21/22 season.
