There is now official confirmation of the Martyrs’ future, following a Southern League Board Meeting and the League has issued the following statement:
Further to Merthyr Town FC’s application that it does not participate in the 2020/21 season, but retains its place in the Premier Division South due to Welsh Government restrictions making it impossible to participate, the matter has been discussed by the League’s Board and by the FA Alliance Committee (today). I am writing to advise all Member Clubs that their request has been accepted and therefore all fixtures for the 2020/21 season will be expunged.
SFC Chairman Ian Hammond commented ” It is very sad to lose a fellow League club, and all at Salisbury FC wish Merthyr Town well for the future.”
