Late in the day being announced I know but anyone at the 1st team game on Tuesday won’t be surprised this game was touch and go. Special thanks must go to Trowbridge Town and the league giving us not only the time to confirm we can get this game on, but also offering to reverse if we couldn’t do so, even at 3pm on Friday.
Salisbury vs a Trowbridge Town side for many older supporters of both clubs will be a throw back to past moons when the two clubs were great foes in the Southern League throughout the 60’s, 70’s, 80’s. It was this Saturdays visitors that won through to the highest level of non-league (now the national league) long before the whites did.
Unfortunately like the host club they also had to reform and start again in 1999/20 season and have since bounced between the Wiltshire league and the Hellenic div 1.
Now fast forward into 2021 is the Development squad that face Towns 1st team in what I believe to be the first match between the two clubs since a good few years before 2000 (I am sure Dave Todd will correct me if I am wrong) and with just goal difference between the two sides in the table this is going to be a tough test of both sides credentials to push in to the top 3.
The whites when they are able to name a near full strength are a match for anyone in this league and that is what we need and it’s looking like mostly will be the case on Saturday.
If your not travelling up to Beaconsfield with the first team then please come down to the Ray Mac and support the lads I’m sure this will be a cracking game.
Kick-off is 3 pm gates open at 2pm
Entry: Adults £4 – Concessions £2 – U16 free
We will be serving hot drinks in the tea hut.
