League Table

Brian Dutton's side fell to defeat at home against relegated Aveley with a goal in each half from the visitors putting a dent in Salisbury's survival hopes.

Salisbury started the game the quicker of the two sides; Hedges provided the Whites' attacking threat with an early strike that went narrowly over the bar inside the first six minutes.

After the opening ten minutes, Aveley gained a foothold. Jack McDowell saw his half-volleyed effort fly the wrong side of the crossbar from his perspective, after he was the first to react to a long throw-in.

Despite a couple of half-openings for the hosts, it was the team from Essex that came closest to opening the scoring. David Kawa was quickest to a loose ball and skipped past two Salisbury bodies before having his shot saved by Rhys Byrne.

In the 35th minute, Harry Beadle put the visitors ahead after getting the last contact from a goalmouth scuffle.

Nothing more gave before the halftime interval, with the visitors going into the changing rooms with their tails up.

Salisbury started the second period fast. Straight from kick-off, Jordan Ragguette was found and produced a powerful ball into the box. James Holden got a glove to it as the ball fell to Hedges, but the latter couldn’t find the target from close range.

In the 71st minute, Austin Nkwonta fired the ball home at the back post from six yards out to double the visitors’ lead.

After six additional minutes, referee Kai Morgan sounded the final whistle to secure three points for the already relegated side.
