The Whites looked promising in their evening fixture against a strong Worthing side, showing flashes of brilliance in the opening minutes. Including an effort from Lee-Higgs who forced a dramatic save from Stacey. A succession of corners ensued, and Salisbury battled fervently for every opportunity.
On the brink of half time, in the 43rd minute, Worthing dealt the first blow as Joe Cook headed the ball home from a corner.
Another effort in additional time of the first half doubled the Sussex side’s lead, after Joe Colbran stabbed another effort past Will Buse.
The Visitors came out for the second half with a two-goal deficit to counter, but making substitutions such as Ollie Bray and Matt Briggs was not enough to turn the tides on the match.
After the match, Brian Dutton said:
“The pressure we managed to put on Worthing, the opportunities we created through transitions was exactly what we were after,
“There’s lots for us to work on, obviously we need to be more ruthless in the final third, so we’ll be working on that and making sure we’re converting these opportunities that we’re creating”
Tonbridge Angels sit on the same points total as Salisbury, having taken one point from their last three fixtures.
They travelled to Dorking Wanderers, who convincingly sealed the three points. Alfie Rutherford bagging two alongside Charlie Carter. There was a flash of a comeback as Bobby Unwin pulled one back, but Brennan Camp regained his side’s three goal advantage as the match finished 4-1.
Angels’ next match saw them carry out a 3-3 draw against Farnborough where Eddie Simons opened the scoring in the first half. The two former Ebbsfleet men, Rakish Bingham and Dom Poleon fired Farnborough into the lead. An exciting finish saw three more goals go in, Eddie Simon scoring once again for his side, Brandon Pierrick bagging the third.
Their most recent fixture was a home match to Enfield Town, where three first half goals saw them 1-2 down at half time. Neither team was able to convert in the second half.
