Salisbury lose 1-3 at home to Tonbridge despite late charge
The first big chance fell to Noah Coppin for the home side in the fifth minute. Dom Revan broke through, picking Matty Taylor out from the defensive line. He played a first-time ball to Coppin, who took the strike, only for it to fall into the hands of Jacob Adams.
Tonbridge returned the favour five minutes later, as Bobby Unwin struck a bouncing ball, forcing Will Buse to get down and collect the effort.
In the 14th minute, Ngalo floats a free kick into the box, it falls to Matty Taylor, who scrambles with the defender. The Whites call feverishly for a hand ball, but the referee plays on.
From that distribution, the ball is played in from the left-hand side, finding Bobb Unwin waiting to pounce. He heads the ball down past Will Buse from close range, firing his side into the lead.
Just minutes later, Salisbury try to level the playing field as Keeya plays a ball over the top to Revan, who fires the ball into the box. It just glances past Noah Coppin, who came charging in to try and tuck the ball home.
Play then seemed to settle, as both teams went end to end with half chances, neither able to convert.
In the 37th minute, a ricocheting ball found Matty Taylor in the box. On the turn, he tried to fire it towards goal. He produced a dramatic dive from Jacob Adams, but his shot was off target.
Heading into additional time now, in the 2nd minute of additional time, Owen Dore found himself with space to shoot, he unleashes the strike but is unable to keep it down.
The Whites came out in the second half, with fresh legs and a hunger to level the scoreline. Substitutes combined as Lee-Higgs played a short ball to Noah Coppin, who crossed the ball in, looking for Hedges. The away defence dealt with it.
Josh Hedges breaks trough Angels’ defence, finding himself in possession on the baseline. He waits for support, trying to play the ball in. But it is dealt with.
In the 60th minute, Dom Revan plays a quick ball in to Lee-Higgs, who is surrounded and dispossessed.
Hayden Muller plays an expert ball into George Penn on the 64th minute, he gets a toe to it, but is unable to keep the ball under control.
Babajide wins a corner for the Visitors in the 73rd minute, taken by Marcus Sablier. He finds substitute, Brody Peart waiting on the edge of the box. He launches the ball goalwards, beating Buse at his top left-hand corner and doubling his side’s lead.
Just heading into the 80th minute, Alfie Allen gains possession in a dangerous position. He fires the ball out wide to Martell Taylor-Crossdale. He plays the ball low for Babajide to stab home Angels’ third of the match.
In the 85th minute, Bailey Akehurst wrongfully brings down Josh Keeya in the box. The referee awards a penalty which is converted calmly by Noah Coppin who tucks the ball away to Jacob Adams’ left.
In the first of twelve minutes of additional time, Bunmi Babajide had a chance to add to his goal tally. He strikes, but a low block from Buse keeps the ball clear.
The closing minutes had a series of half chances, including Evander Grubb trying to find Matt Briggs in the area.
